Abstract

Green nanotechnology has emerged as a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to conventional nanoparticle synthesis methods, minimizing the use of toxic chemicals and harsh reaction conditions. In this approach, biological resources such as plant extracts play a key role in the reduction and stabilization of metal ions to form nanoparticles. Among various nanomaterials, magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles are of particular interest due to their excellent magnetic properties, chemical stability and wide-ranging applications in environmental remediation, catalysis and biomedical sciences. Plant-based synthesis is especially attractive because phytochemicals such as phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids and antioxidants act as natural reducing and capping agents, enabling efficient nanoparticle formation under mild conditions. Consequently, plant-mediated synthesis offers a cost-effective and sustainable pathway for producing Fe3Onanoparticles with significant potential for advanced environmental and technological applications.
